A Community Vegetable Garden for Yiza Ekhaya Soup Kitchen

The land that was used to rebuild Yiza Ekhaya Soup Kitchen was previously a productive veggie garden. We rebuilt Yiza Ekhaya with a flat roof on which to establish a vegetable garden.

But Mickey has greater plans, she has spoken to all her neighbours about a vacant plot of land adjacent to Yiza Ekhaya. With their resounding agreement, she intends to turn this plot into a community vegetable garden. She is currently applying for a lease from the council. Hold Thumbs for the next venture! We’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime the Western Cape Agricultural Department has shown their support by donating plants for Mickey to start planting in the small patch of land adjacent to the hemp house.
