Africa Café, Cape Town

 

Africa Café uses 100% biodegradable food packaging and utensils for both  Lunch @ Africa Café and Raw Religion @ Africa Café.

Situated on the corner of Shortmarket and Buitengracht Streets in Cape, Lunch @ Africa Café presents a tasty spread of African tapas (from channa fish to Moroccan chickpea’s in phyllo pastry parcels), super fruit smoothies (think organic raw cacao, maca, honey & soya milk), delicious home-baked guilten-free cakes and fresh fruit cocktails. Downstairs, Raw Religion @ Africa Café has more of a takeaway emphasis and also sells fresh organic produce and other raw goodies. They make incredible cashew and other nut cheeses and have delicious pre-packed raw meals to go.

Africa Café has been pushing the boundaries of African cuisine for the past 20 years, and with their latest venture Raw Religion @ Africa Café, continue to do just that, with astonishingly tasty results. This super wholesome and delicious lunch is served using only natural and compostable disposable plates, cups and bowls.

The plates and bowls are:

  • Made from natural, renewable & sustainable raw materials.
  • Made from a recycled raw materials instead of fresh tree pulp.
  • A natural colour and feel.
  • Heat, water and oil resistant.
  • Suitable for both hot and cold food.
  • Biodegradable and compostable.

Anything that’s needed to be packaged is placed in bioplastic bags.  These bags are made from plant materials rather than fossil fuel based plastic so they can be composted together with other green waste after they’ve been used.
