It is also great to see food stalls using reusable plates, cutlery and glasses. Where ever possible, it is so much better to use a plate that can be washed and used again and again after the event.
There are cases where reusable tableware is not practical. In the case of small food artisans and very busy food stalls, who haven’t the resources and space availability for a team of washer uppers, for example. In this case, it is so important to use biodegradable tableware and cutlery because food contaminated plastic is not recyclable. Biodegradable tableware is more environmentally friendly to produce. Because it is made from entirely plant based materials, no harmful toxins are released into the environment.
When these plates and cutlery do end up in a landfill at the end of the Food Wine Design show, they will biodegrade into natural components within 6 months.
