Shiloh Synergy: School Sandwich Project

Shiloh Synergy’s School Sandwich Project delivers sandwiches and fruit to school children, packaged in GreenHome’s brown paper sandwich bags.

Shiloh Synergy is a non profit company based in Brakenfell. They began as a church initiative to feed hungry children in Wallacedene.  Over the years, they have grown and currently supply approximately 63000 meals to organisations across the Western Cape.  The meal costs them around R3 a day and are supplied to children, HIV Aids and TB patients, the elderly and the homeless.

One of their projects is the Shiloh Food Sandwich Project which supplies freshly made sandwiches and fruits to schools in informal settlements. The staff begin cooking, spreading and packing at 3am. They prepare a total of 1900 sandwiches. We admire their dedication.

Their commitment to people matches their concern for the environment. The sandwiches are packaged in GreenHome’s brown paper sandwich bags. Made from recycled raw materials, unbleached, 100% recyclable and compostable!

From the warehouse they supply grocery hampers to families that struggle to make ends meet. Furniture, clothing, household equipment and medical equipment such as wheelchairs and hospital beds are distributed to the needy through service delivery organizations.

Other projects by Shiloh include:

  • School and children based projects.
  • Food Hampers and assistance for families in desperate need.
  • Empowerment through computer training and life skills.

Shiloh Synergy love to share what they do with you. Visit their website www.shiloh.org.za or contact Estelle on 021 981 8236/41 to arrange a visit, get involved or make a donation to the project.
