Fracking the Karoo: SA says yes while EU says no!

The South African government rather disingenuously lifted it’s moratorium on fracking while at the same time a European Commission Report found fracking to be a “high risk to human health and the environment because of its potential to contaminate and deplete water resources, cause a loss of biodiversity, degrade air and land quality and trigger earthquakes.”

But the fight against fracking in South Africa (and the world) is far from over as this article in the Huffington post explains. Saturday 22 September was global anti- fracking day and  Cape Townians took to the streets to tell the government that they will not stand by while foreign companies (and officials) profit at the expense of the environment.
