World Refugee Week Celebrations Sponsored by GREEN HOME

We sponsored the World Refugee Week celebrations held at The Scalabrini Centre in Cape Town with our compostable Sugarcane plates (made from recycled sugarcane fibre called bagasse – not virgin wood pulp or petroleum oil)

The Scalabrini Centre is an NGO offering development and welfare programmes to the migrant and local communities of Cape Town. The Center celebrated the strength of the human spirit with a three day festival (June 17, 18 and 19) of music, poetry, films, crafts, and exhibitions. Their focus was the celebration of courage, “It takes courage to be a Refugee. It takes courage to stand up for your beliefs in the face of persecution.” Its a great privilege to be part of this much needed, strong and positive message.

Hundreds of people from across Africa and the world attended the events, working up a major appetite through hours of fun and games.

“We at Scalabrini were thrilled to be able to dish up a delicious spread of lovely pan-African food (from the DRC, Somalia and Angola) thanks to a generous donation from GREEN HOME, of 100% Biodegradable Food Packaging. Eighty plates of tastiness per day, made all the more special, for being eco-friendly. Many, many thanks to Cat Morris and the GreenHome team for adding such a lovely and important touch to the week!”
