The revolution starts at home!

A Cape Town-based collective, While you were Sleeping, recently screened a documentary called: Garbage: The Revolution Starts at Home. It’s a simple story but it packs a big punch and centers around an average size urban family – the MacDonald’s. The filmmakers asked them to keep all their rubbish in their garage for three months. The obvious result of piles and piles of rubbish shocked this American family but the message that came through most strongly was that even though we can and should recycle, this doesn’t give us licence to consume without restraint. We need to reduce as much packaging and disposable containers as we can – even if it’s biodegradable.
