Live Earth uses Biodegradable Packaging (July 2007)
Live Earth Concert in Johannesburg was the first major event in South Africa to use biodegradable catering products. By the end of the evening there was 3.5 tons of waste. Potentially this waste could have non-biodegradable disposable plastics and dumped in a landfill, taking hundreds of years to degrade. Luckily it was all
biodegradable and composted onsite. Within 3 weeks all waste was converted into fresh compost and donated to community gardens!
